Kane's Tv Spin-off

FORMER Big Brother inmate Kane Dignum has traded in the sun and surf of the Gold Coast for the Melbourne nightlife.

The 21-year-old, who you may remember for his nudie run or his full body shaving, is using his TV profile to boost his career as a house DJ.

And all seems to be going to plan with the pint-sized Queenslander landing residencies in four venues.

"It's great here," he said of the Victorian capital. "There's a lot of culture and stuff. And it's got the best dance music scene in the country."

This week he'll be the guest DJ at Jackass Wednesdays, a weekly theme night held in Newcastle's Crown & Anchor Hotel's Frostbites bar.

Dignum admits his appeal is largely due to his role on the fourth Australian series of Big Brother.

"I'm trying to lose the Big Brother thing as quickly as I can," he said. "I've used it to my advantage and now I'd like to be known as Kane the DJ. I know I've got the skills to back it up."

Wednesday's gig will be Dignum's first visit here and he's hoping the surf is up.

"That's the thing I miss about the Gold Coast, the beaches," he said. "But Paulie (another BB4 housemate) lives at Torquay so I go stay with him and go for a surf whenever I can."

As for the prospect of taking part in a Jackass-style dare: "I'll have to assess the situation at the time but after a few beers there's a chance I could try and be a hero."
