DENISE Amor's attempt to smuggle drugs into a Sydney jail while visiting an inmate could have landed the 29-year-old behind bars herself.
But the Corrimal woman avoided a jail term yesterday when she was sentenced in Wollongong Local Court to 150 hours of community service and placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond.Amor was convicted on a series of drug offences, including using her unit as a drug house and taking drugs into Silverwater Correctional Facility. Police raided her Railway St unit on January 7 this year. They found four men inside and caught Amor flushing four resealable bags of white powder down the toilet. The search uncovered small quantities of cannabis, heroin and methylamphetamines, pocket scales and several empty resealable bags.Magistrate Paul Johnson said the most serious offence was on June 2 this year when Amor was caught with marijuana in her boot while visiting a prison inmate. He said Amor was a follower, not a leader.
